Change somebody's life

Volunteering At SMWA

What is the project about? SMWA is extending it’s work into the wider community through this exciting volunteer project funded by Volunteering England. The programme has a specific focus on health and social care issues for women and elders.

We hope to encourage our members to give something back to the local area. At the same time participants will learn new skills, gain practical experience and build confidence for later employment opportunities.

No Experience Necessary. Learn New Skills. Meet People. Get Invovled

We can also give you training so you too can be involved in some of the following activities.

Community healthy food sessions • Exercise to music sessions • Chair aerobics • Healthy walks • Accompanying elders on GP visits • Accompanying elders on shopping trips.

Our volunteers will be based at SMWA and will operate depending on their roles.

Currently our volunteers are involved reaching out to other people in Southwark. We have recently orgnised enjoyable healthy walk sessions in Peckham Rye Parks, Sydenham Woods, Burgess Park, and many local gardens. Our volunteers have also organized a series of health talks.

If you just want to find out more about what we do please email Marie Johnson at m.johnson@smwa.org.uk, or drop in for an informal chat.
