The main aim of the Muslim Elderly Project is to meet the needs of the Muslim elder community. We are not a religious organization but we provide a Muslim environment to our members in order to make them feel more secure and comfortable at the centre. We have a team of highly qualified professionals who are responsible to conduct theses activities using their vast experience and dedication and ensuring that out elders enjoy it and take full benefits of our services

The project meets weekly from Monday to Wednesday and provides the following facilities:

Halal Luncheon Club: (we prepare healthly food with different taste and verity i.e. Arabic, English, Sub-continental, African etc.
Pickup service from door to door
Social and educational activities
Other activities involve Computer classes, Exercise classes, English learning classes, Art & craft classes and you wonder it is all free for our elderly members. We also have trained qualified counselors who can advice you on many social and personal matters we also arrange day trips for our members at a minimum charges.

If you are over 50 years, we are here awaiting for you or if you have relatives, friends, neighbors who do you think are looking for these kind of activities please inform them and do a great help to Muslim community.

Aim and objective:

Bringing in together (recruit) all the ethnic Muslim community in the Southwark Borough under one roof.

At the center members are encouraged to plan their own activities, for example health education, arts and crafts and Islamic studies.
Provide equal opportunities to all members to enjoy and learn English language, meet and make new friends, participate in discussion of common interest subjects and share their opinion and views with others

Promote in them a community sprit and create an awareness of the advantages of the collective life
Provide an opportunity to adjust them self in a British society according to their culture and Islamic values.


Monitor and promote the interests of Muslim community in Southwark, which has been subject to most serve violence and continuous discrimination.
Teach computer skills, e-mail and surfing the Internet, to use the technology effectively and make a positive use of it in their daily life.
Publish and distribute newsletters, informative literature and other materiel on common problem faced by the elderly Muslims in their day to day life, for example health issue, road crime prevention and self-defense etc.
This project provides social, emotional and practical support for elderly Muslims suffering from ill health, isolation and deprivation and therefore at risk.

Provide twice a week well balance quality halal meal to eat in or take out at a reasonable price for elderly members.
Elderly attending the center are encouraged to participate in a range of stimulating activities including craft classes, reminiscence groups, weekly exercises, shopping trips, visits to the museums and other leisure places.

Members can take active participation in different type of events organized at the center throughout the year so they can meet others in the community and share ideas with other people.
Liaising closely with Social Services, Council, the Health Authority, the Police, faith groups and community and voluntary organizations to ensure that needs identified by elderly community are met as far as possible.
Ensure that a different verity of meal cook for the elderly member so they can enjoy continental, Arabic, Asian, African halal food at low cost.
   
Equal opportunities are providing for older people with disabilities and special needs to be involve in the program of activities.
