The Southwark Muslim Women's Association was formed in 1979  to work on behalf of Muslim women of all nationalities living or working in London. With the help of the London Borough of Southwark, we have established a Community Centre in Bellenden Old School.

The Centre in Bellenden Road provides a place where Muslim women can feel safe and comfortable; where they can meet socially, attend classes and workshops and receive advice and support. The centre has developed over the years, responding to the changing needs of the community.

During the daytime, some of the activities that take place are for women only. At times, however, the programme of events caters for the interests of the whole family.

Those attending the Centre come from all over the world including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey, Bosnia, Middle East, Somalia, Mauritius, India and the Caribbean. Islam is central to the culture of all members of the Association and those visiting the centre can feel free to observe the customs and traditions of their faith, without restriction or embarrassment

I am pleased to report that we have attained our targets and in some cases exceeded them..... LEARN MORE
